Ascalon -vs-ringmail armor...
i'm trying to decide what armor to get. both have a rating of 59, but the ascalon has "Reduces damage from attacks", but only +10 -vs- physical...the ringmail has +20 versus physical, but no additional damage reduction.
can i find out how much damage reduction the ascalon armor has? or are they pretty much the same? |

never....EVER...Buy more than Ascalon Gloves or Boots (never both).
See, The Reduction from Ascalon is Global and non-stacking with itself. Meaning if you wear just the boots or gloves (least hit part of body) then you get the bonus on your whole body, and you get the same reduction whether you wear 1 peice or all 4. SO just buy Ascalon gloves or boots, and better armor on everything else |

I wonder if the ascalon reduction stacks with knights?

If you want looks, buy whatever looks nicer to you.
Ascalon only has 1 damage reduction until the Droknars Forge and the 15k sets, which have 2 damage reduction. The damage reduction ONLY applies to attacks. not to anything else. |

No, knights + ascalon do not stack. They do stack with an absorption rune and a shield with an active damage reduction.

For the best armor quality buy all ringmail EXCEPT for ascalon gloves. That would be the best armor combo of those two sets.

I'll have to agree with the rest, though I wouldn't recommend Ascalon gloves. If you (for some reason ) wanna play around with a hammer PvE, you could get Stoneskin Gauntlets. I believe there are gauntlets for axes too, not sure though since I deleted the warrior.

Id get Ascalon Boots, and wait for Yak's Bend to upgrade teh other parts of your armour to Gladiators. This set up (with a weapon attribute helm) will serve you well, and is the optimum setup for end-game armour too. Having the knights/ascalon on your feet means that you have the option os switching your gloves out for Stonefists should you ever want to be a hammer warrior.
